Before we discuss what exactly the Nightmare is actually about the following are a few points we’ll be discussing:

It is where it is

What stats are required to face it

Which strategy works best?

What rewards you will receive

What is the Nightmare? It’s described as “large and terrifying, otherworldly terror” that feeds on those who are in sleep. By feeding upon their vital energy, Nightmare’s victims experience terrifying nightmares which only stop when their life force is exhausted completely.

There is a legend that states that shamans participated in an ancient ritual that led to that the creation of the Nightmare in the form of a woman who looked like a hag. The shamans who created the Nightmare are believed to have tried to destroy what they had summoned, through the construction of four totems that could be channeled together to stop her. However, they were destroyed by the Nightmare before they got an opportunity to use them against her.

The sirens from Ashihama have been haunted by the Nightmare, leading them to finally confront her. Shura and a crew of sirens were to head for the lair of the Nightmare, from in which they would take on the hag-like female and take her away from Ashihama. This would lead to the Nightmare going west towards Slepe which is a town that suffers from the sleeper-pest epidemic. This would prove to an ideal time for the female, as she’d use her power to steal town-dwellers’ dreams and become more powerful than ever before. In an effort to defend Shura’s home Shura seeks out players who can help keep the Nightmare from escaping.

Where is the Nightmare of Ashihama be found?

The title of the story would normally explain itself, but as we’ve mentioned before it is true that the Nightmare was in fact driven out of Ashihama and moved into Morytania specifically, specifically in a town known as Slepe. As far as accessing the Nightmare, in the event that you gain access to Mortyania and then be able to fight against this formidable adversary.

There are several ways to get to Slepe quickly. First, you can teleport to Ver Sinhaza through Drakan’s medallion. Follow the northerly direction until you come to an island, then head right to reach Slepe. Another option is to utilize the Ectophial to transfer yourself towards the Ectofuntus. From there, you’ll have to travel to the north until you come to the dock. But, there is a dock where you can spend Andras 10,000 coins to take you to Slepe. After arriving, you will be at an island just south-west of Slepe So, just walk towards the town to get there.

How many people could be a team against it?

The debut of the Nightmare of Ashihama poses the first ever boss-group fight in OSRS. That means, up to 80 players can to join forces to take on the hag-like monster.

Before doing so before doing so, you should know this: the Nightmare isn’t just a standard boss fight. In contrast to other OSRS bosses the Nightmare’s combat as well as health stats will scale to the number of players that participate in the battle. You can take on with no less than five players should you decide to. Another important thing to remember include that players will not be able to participate in the battle at any point, which means you must wait until all the players have been killed or the Nightmare is defeated. If you wish to monitor the progress of a fight with the Nightmare, then you will find her in the middle when she is in battle.

Fighting the Nightmare

As mentioned previously the only requirement for fighting the Nightmare is access to Morytania. But this doesn’t mean the boss is to be ignored by any means. She’s fully competent of destroying you with one blow which is why it’s strongly recommended that you have your combat skills above 85, with particularly close attention to Prayer for additional security.

The Nightmare of Ashihama is equipped with a variety of threats that you will naturally be looking to avoid. There are, however, a few clues to visuals that are worth observing to be fully prepared. For instance the Nightmare will make a whirlwind of shooting pink flower petals to make a Magic attack. If you notice her twitching it means she is planning to launch a Ranged attack by using the spikes that appear across her body. For her Melee attacks, she’ll flail her arms behind her head prior to attacking any players within her range.

What strategies work best?

The boss is essentially three phases that contain a range of fundamental and unique attacks. In the beginning, Nightmare will be using her Ranged, Melee and Magic attacks. So, focus on hitting her, while hitting the four totems that increase their power.

In the second stage during the second stage, she summons Sleepwalkers that will allow her to take out massive damage on anyone in the arena. Here, you will want to get as many Sleepwalkers out as you can early on. Continue to charge the totems as before , and concentrate your efforts at her defense. Be aware of her Curse or Grasping Claws and Parasites specific attacks.

The final phase is similar to the first round. Adopt the same strategy and you’ll eventually defeat her, just be wary of her Teleport Spores and Charge here.

Fighting The Nightmare of Ashihama can appear daunting at first. What it actually offers as a challenge is the first boss in which players can join up to 80 players for the first big battle for teams in OSRS. If you stick to these guidelines, then you’ll reap plenty of rewards and be successful in saving an entire town from a nightmare.
